After breakfast, you will be picked up by one of our driver at around 0700am and proceed to the lush crater uplands, where the fertile soil allows crops such as wheat, corn, and coffee to grow. You will have lunch at a picnic spot before you slowly drive towards the Ngorongoro Crater. On the way, you will pass the Olduvai Gorge where the English couple, Louis and Mary Leak, pioneered archaeological excavation work. In the sixties, some of the earliest archaeological deposits of human evolution were found here and a small museum (visit optional) reports these discoveries. The name “Serengeti” origins from the Masai word “Siringitu” and means “endless plains”. Breakfast at around 0800am. Proceed with morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge in the mid afternoon. The term Serengeti means endless plains in Masai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah. This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. On this day the breakfast will be served as early as 0600hrs. After the breakfast check out the camp or lodge early in the morning as at 0630am, we drive directly to Ngorongoro crater for descend to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day explore game drive tour. We take a picnic lunch and this will be served in the crater next to the hippo pool, at this point you will be able to stretch your feet and visit the washrooms. The Ngorongoro Crater is recognized as a UNESCO protected World Heritage Site and forms part of an international biosphere reserve. The crater measures approximately 300 sq km and measures about 19 km across. The floor of the crater is 600 meters below the rim, (which is over 2200 m.a.s.l), and is home to an abundance of wildlife including black rhino, lion, cheetah, buffalo, elephants and a plethora of antelope species.
