The Sirimon Out Naru Moru Route is another popular and scenic route to climb Mount Kenya. This route starts on the northwest side of the mountain and finishes on the west side, making it a traverse of the mountain. Here are some details about the route:

Tour Plan

Day 1 Nairobi-Nanyuki

Day 1
Leave Nairobi at 7.00 am to Nanyuki, which normally takes 4hrs drive, arriving at
12.00, then proceed to Mt Kenya National Park Sirimon gate, picnic lunch will be
provided.  After lunch, follow the track uphill for 9 kms, forking left at the
junction to reach Old Moses camp which is situated at 3,300m.  The ascent from
Sirimon gate to Old Moses is 690m Dinner/overnight.

Day 2 ascend from old moses

Day 2
After breakfast, ascend from old moses to the west side of the Valley, over a ridge, then down into the Mackinders Valley to meet the direct route, taking two  hours. From here,
follow the Mackinders Valley to reach Shipton camp, a total of 8 hours from Old moses to
Shiptons camp at 4,200m.  Dinner/overnight.

DAY 3 summit

Day 3
Wake up at 2.00am at night, have tea and biscuits, then leave at 2.30am to the summit
which normally takes 3-4 hrs, this section is rocky and frozen scree.  Continue
walking until you get to point Lenana 4,985 meters at around 6.30am in the morning for the sunrise. Then descend down to Mackinder’s camp for breakfast then after breakfast
walk down to Met station for 5 hrs, dinner/overnight.

DAY 4 Narumoru-Nairobi

Day 4
After morning breakfast, continue walking down through the bamboo and indigenous
forest to reach Naru-moru gate to meet up with your transport back to Nairobi.
